Guess who came up with this marvelous, well-meaning program
We ask that the government undertake the obligation above all of providing citizens with adequate opportunity for employment and earning a living.
The activities of the individual must not be allowed to clash with the interests of the community, but must take place within its confines and be for the good of all. Therefore, we demand:... an end to the power of the financial interests.
We demand profit sharing in big business.
We demand a broad extension of care for the aged.
We demand... the greatest possible consideration of small business in the purchases of national, state, and municipal governments.
In order to make possible to every capable and industrious [citizen] the attainment of higher education and thus the achievement of a post of leadership, the government must provide an all-around enlargement of our entire system of public education...
We demand the education at government expense of gifted children of poor parents...
The government must undertake the improvement of public health—by protecting mother and child, by prohibiting child labor... by the greatest possible support for all clubs concerned with the physical education of youth.
We combat the... materialistic spirit within and without us, and are convinced that a permanent recovery of our people can only proceed from within on the foundation of the common good before the individual good.
Yep, it was the Nazi Party, Munich, February 1920.

Elderly woman asked to remove adult diaper during TSA search
I suppose the question is “Do you feel safer now?”
A woman has filed a complaint with federal authorities over how her elderly mother was treated at Northwest Florida Regional Airport last weekend.
Jean Weber of Destin filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security after her 95-year-old mother was detained and extensively searched last Saturday while trying to board a plane to fly to Michigan to be with family members during the final stages of her battle with leukemia.
Her mother, who was in a wheelchair, was asked to remove an adult diaper in order to complete a pat-down search.
“It’s something I couldn’t imagine happening on American soil,” Weber said Friday. “Here is my mother, 95 years old, 105 pounds, barely able to stand, and then this.”
I just do not know folks, but it seems to me that the terrorist have won, we are no longer free people. The politically correct US Government is abusing it’s citizens while refusing to profile likely terrorist.

Missing my summers in the mountains
I know, I know, it was a miracle that someone knocked on our door with a request to buy our house. It was a miracle because after we closed on the house and came back to Florida just 3 months later I started my three year battle with cancer. The battle is not finished but I am feeling so much better I long for some of the wonderful days we spent in Podunk.
No matter how hard you look you cannot find an old house consumed by Kudzu in West Palm Beach.
There is nothing like the Dillard House in south Florida or friends like Wade and TC. It looks to me like Wade is admiring that basket of homemade donuts on the table…..
I miss having tomatoes on the vine in our little garden, and fresh picked corn on the cob.
And yes, I miss Fried Green Tomatoes, maybe Miss Bee will make me some……
You may be deprived, even ignorant, but for some reason you never found the gumption to sample this traditional Southern favorite you have missed a real treat. Some of you folks have narrow point of view, thinking that tomatoes ought to be red and fresh, not green and fried, wrong.......
Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe
3 medium, firm green tomatoes
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup milk
2 beaten eggs
2/3 cup fine dry bread crumbs or cornmeal
1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Cut unpeeled tomatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Sprinkle slices with salt and pepper. Let tomato slices stand for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, place flour, milk, eggs, and bread crumbs in separate shallow dishes.
Heat 2 Tbsp of oil in a skillet on medium heat. Dip tomato slices in milk, then flour, then eggs, then bread crumbs. In the skillet, fry half of the coated tomato slices at a time, for 4-6 minutes on each side or until brown. As you cook the rest of the tomatoes, add oil as needed. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Add a little spicy dipping sauce and your taste buds are in for a treat.
If you are fixing any of these let me know, I will drop in for a spell…….

In the Shadow of Vietnam……….
Walt Whitman Rostow showing President Lyndon B. Johnson a model of the Khe Sanh area in February 1968
Yep, what goes around comes around, in my day our fearless Commander in Chief got so involved that he had a sand box in the Whitehouse to aid in his tactical decision making. Oh, but wait a minute, we the taxpayer bare the expense of sending young men to West Point and other Academies in hopes that they will grow up to be great Generals and have the tactical knowledge to lead men in battle and win our wars. But alas, we have men who grow up to be president and Commander in Chief who naturally acquire the knowledge required to win wars. In LBJ’s case the net result was the loss of the war in Vietnam. He knew best and overrode the Generals who were doing their job.
Quoting one of the Old Sarge’s personal heroes, General George Patton:
"You must be single minded. Drive for the one thing on which you have decided. You will find that you will make some people miserable; those you love and very often yourself. And, if it looks like you are getting there, all kinds of people, including some whom you thought were loyal friends, will suddenly show up doing their Goddamndest, hypocritical best to trip you up, blacken you, and break your spirit. Politicians are the worst; they'll wear their country's flag in public, but they'll use it to wipe their asses in the caucus room, if they think that it will win them a vote."
And an second quote: “Politicians do not know anything more about real battle, than [he] does about fornicating.”
God knows the Old Sarge loves General Patton.
FAST FOWARD TO 2011
Like Johnson, BHO has inserted himself between the troops and their commanders, and is making decisions based on political expediency rather than a determination to win the war in which we’re engaged. Even though the Pentagon, General David Petraeus, and Speaker Boehner have asked him not pull out our troops he has made the political decision to pullout 33,000 troops prior to our 2012 election season.
History repeats itself, will President Obama suffer our second loss of a war?
On Geezerhood
This post is shamelessly copped from my friend Bob Mack at Be Sure You're RIGHT, Then Go Ahead. It was so well done that I had the URGE to repost, now you read it while this old fart goes to pee……….

I’ve somehow ended up in early geezerhood, which is an interesting turn of events for someone who never really expected to see the far side of 30. And one of the things I’ve come to realize in my dotage is the truth of the observation that inside every arthritic codger is a spry young whippersnapper scratching frantically to get out, though in this case the obnoxious little b****rd is just gonna have to get used to lockdown—he can’t be trusted. Another inconvenient senior truth is that of the many commercial discounts offered to those of us ancient enough to remember 25¢ a gallon gas and Democrats who actually wondered what we could do for our country, none ever seem to be for important daily staples like coffee, cigars, or beer. But why gripe about it. Ya gotta be grateful for each and every day, even when each and every day’s snail mail brings such less than exhilarating notifications as the following:
We are pleased to announce a Senior Final Expense Insurance Program to help pay what the government does not pay for your funeral expenses. At present, the government pays $255.
The nerve. Not only do they cheerfully remind me that I’ve got one leg resting uncomfortably in the grave, they also inform me that my government is subsidizing the business that’s going to put the rest of me there. And I was angry when I thought General Motors was the only industry Obama was nationalizing. Of course, $255 will not buy you many more funerary accoutrements these days than a cheap body bag and an abbreviated eulogy from somebody who was deaconized by the Universal Life Church**; but with millions of us Baby Boomers heading into life’s last lap, this is another entitlement program that’s going to eventually add up to some serious cash.

You are about to legally become an ordained minister, and/or a priest to perform religious services through the Universal Life Church Monastery…

Thanks for this post Bob, it so fits me, now I gotta go pee again………

Yet Another Congressional Sex Scandal: Florida Rep. Accused Of Sexual Harassment
Anthony Weiner has only been out of office for one day, and we already have another Congressional sex scandal on our hands. Rep. Alcee Hastings, a Florida Democrat, is being investigated for allegedly sexually harassing a staff member. Clearly the Democratic Party is rife with corruption!
Yep, my congressman, the dishonorable Alcee Hastings. This isn't the first time Hastings' ethics have been called into question. In 1989 he became the sixth federal judge in U.S. history to be removed from office by the Senate after he was impeached by the House for allegedly conspiring to accept a bribe.
The fact that his was impeached as a judge made no difference to the gerrymandered 23rd district of Florida. Follow the district lines, it includes all the predominately black areas of Palm Beach County, the western farms, up to the citrus groves around Fort Pierce, with a narrow strip through West Palm Beach to pick up the city of Rivera Beach. Blatantly obvious to pool all the people that will vote for this jerk.
I hope his tenure is less than Wieners but trust me, this guy will not give up, he has no pride and no self respect, he will not be shamed out of office.

He leadeth me
Beside the still factories.
He guideth me in the path of unemployment
I shall fear no hunger, for his bailouts are with me.
He has Anointed my income with taxes,
My expenses runneth over.
And I will live in a mortgaged home forever.
I am glad … that I am free,
But I wish … I was a dog,
And Obama … was a tree

Economics 101, President Obama should enroll
Barack Obama admitted he is completely and utterly ignorant about economics. In an interview with the Today Show, Barack Obama declared that the unemployment rate remains high due to automation such as ATMs. “They see less bank tellers and more ATMs.”
Give me a break, our President cannot accept the the bank has higher paid employees that maintain the ATMs, or the computer programmers, the machine manufacturer, and the supplier of machine components, sorry folks, our president is not “Shovel Ready” for his job…….
Wisconsin Wins, America Wins……..
Governor Scott Walker stood his ground and created a chink in the Union armor…
Wisconsin's polarizing union rights law will take effect thanks to a sharply divided ruling by the state Supreme Court that determined a judge overstepped her authority when she voided the governor's plan to strip most public workers of their collective bargaining rights.
The ruling Tuesday evening was a major victory for Republican Gov. Scott Walker, who said the law was needed to help address the state's $3.6 billion budget shortfall. His proposal -- which drew tens of thousands of demonstrators to the state Capitol for weeks earlier this year -- thrust Wisconsin to the forefront of a national debate over labor rights.
What the Old Sarge Thinks…..
Public Employees have to understand that you can no longer pump water from a dry well, for years now unions and been coming to the well for more and more with no regard for the taxpayer’s ability to pay. This is the beginning of the end of domination of public employee unions who have overreached into John Q. Public’s pockets.
Now it is time for the NLRB to get the hell out of Boeing’s business decisions….
