What a wonderful day!!!

Yep, folks I got to tell you I am having a wonderful day. This morning I had an appointment with my hero, Dr Green……..

DSC00558and the news is gooooooooooood. No Chemo today. I had a PET Scan this past Tuesday and the results were excellent, there are two tumors on my back and they show little to no activity, in other words, the four rounds of chemo have done their job for now and I am done for now. I see Dr Green in one month and will have another scan in two months for follow up. I will start a maintenance program when he thinks I need need it.

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN……………

It made me smile

George Bush and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barber shop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken. The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics..

As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Obama in his chair reached for the aftershave. Obama was quick to stop him saying, 'No thanks, my wife Michelle will smell that and think I've been in a whorehouse.'

The second barber turned to Bush and said, 'How about you sir ?' Bush replied, 'Go ahead; my wife doesn't know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.'

Navy ships…..

Historically the US Navy names ships to honor individual.  Naturally the more important the person, the bigger the ship.  Here are three examples that demonstrates this system.

USS RONALD  REAGAN sails by the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor.   Under orders to 'Man the Rail' they stand shoulder to shoulder, around 4.5 acres.

ATT00001

USS BILL CLINTON with it’s full complement of one F-16, sorry, can not launch it from the 100 foot deck.

ATT00002

USS  BARACK  OBAMA

Details are  vague.  But don't worry..........he has a plan

Is it time to bring them home???

US TROOPS ORDERED NOT TO WARE UNIFORMS IN PUBLIC….

33951

US troops in Germany have been banned from wearing their military uniforms in public in the wake of the Frankfurt Airport shooting that left two American airmen dead and two seriously injured.  read more

What the old sarge thinks:  This brings back old feelings for me, while stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in the early 1970’s it was suggested that we not wear our uniforms when off post.  That was a volatile time in the USA, Vietnam war, demonstrators, etc……..  Being a soldier was not the most respected profession, we were often insulted and it would just make my blood boil.

I was drafted into the service and liked my life, hence by the 1970’s I had reenlisted twice.  Today’s soldiers are all volunteer, they wear the uniform because they want to, they have pride in what they are doing along with love of their country.  In my humble opinion Military Service is an honorable profession, one that commands respect from those that are served.

We have continuously had soldiers stationed in Germany since 1944, I was one of those soldiers in 1961.  Even at that time you could sense some resentment from the younger generation, the older folks respected us and appreciated what we did.  Today that younger generation is the older folks and see us as invaders, not protectors.

Europe is near an eruption of violence, serious violence, ie, Greece and other countries.   Maybe it is time to bring our soldiers home, the military is stretched thin with two wars and near a third with our intervention in Libya.  We have asked our service men and women to repeatedly deploy to a war zone, some have been there for 8 deployments.  Let me tell you, once you complete a combat assignment, there is mental anguish when you have to go back.

I think it is time for the major part of USA Europe to come home, those 10’s of thousands could take the pressure off the rest of the services.

"My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humor, and love," her son Michael Wilding said in a statement. "Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts."

Japan in ruin, The Middle East is on fire. And it is no surprise that Barack Obama, one of the most naïve, inexperienced presidents this country has ever had  seems completely lost as to how to respond to this international calamity.

Photo stolen from Jon who did a good post on this subject.

He reminded me of a personal experience from my youth, I was watching a tv broadcast of JFK saying “we are going to the Moon in this decade, not because it is easy but because it is hard,” and we did it, he made America proud……..

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Plunge right through that line!
* Run the ball clear down the field,

The Wisconsin Republicans have been prevented from passing their financial reform package because they must have a super-majority quorum in the state legislature to pass financial matters. Part of the financial reform package was an end to collective bargaining on salary for public employees.

Consequently, the Wisconsin legislature got tired of the Democrats hiding in Illinois, three weeks now.

By an 18-1 vote, the Wisconsin Senate stripped collective bargaining from the financial package and passed it as a stand alone item. The portion of the financial package that the unions most objected to is now going to be the law without them present. They are, to say the least, upset.

Who is the dumb animal?????

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area.  For some reason the cattle will not step on the guards, probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

obama-cowboy1

A few months ago, President Obama was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado. The Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the cattle guards immediately!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZimagesCAPL7LJT

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten President Obama out on the matter, Vice-President Joe Biden, intervened with a request that...before any cattle guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining for Arizona border guards. Times are hard, said Joe Biden, only fair to the cattle guards and their families!

Yep, that’s what he said

I was eating lunch Sunday the 20th with my 10 year old grandson when his mom asked him "What is tomorrow?"  He said "It's President's Day"

She asked "What does that mean?" .... I was waiting for something profound....

He said: "President's Day is when Obama steps out of the White House and if he sees his shadow, we have 2 more years of unemployment."

St Thomas

Yep, the evil crew is now in St Thomas, and what do you find here?

001St Thomas is not as well protected as some of the islands, this dinky little fort guards the harbor, could not of had more than a half dozen men protecting the entrance….

004 This is a good example of toys of the rich and famous, this 220 foot little jewel with of course, a matching dingy, yep, that is it in the opening on the side.  Someone in Denver owns it for a mere 85 million dollars.

002 The harbor is full of small sailing ships, what a way to live………

003 Of course, you know me, I am standing by to help El Capitan if he needs my help…..

005 I must admit, even in St Thomas there are some stupid people…………

Next, San Juan PR………..
