Under the hood, there isn’t much power but with a car this small there doesn’t need to be. Motivation comes in the form of a 70-horsepower, 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that can push the 2011 all the way to a top speed of 90 mph. A five-speed auto-manual transmission is standard. Fuel economy is one area where the ForTwo excels, getting 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.
My friend JJ owns this Smart, hey JJ will it really do 90 MPH. You will not have to get a YUGO, you can now buy a SMART, same size but a much better car. I used the YUGO because it is easy to make fun of............

Lets face it folks. the Obama EPA will not be satisfied until they have forced every American to ride a bus or walk to work. In 1985, we imported the Yugo GV, which turned out to be the worst care ever made. Built in Soviet-bloc Yugoslavia, the Yugo had the distinct feeling of something assembled at gunpoint. Interestingly, in a car where "carpet" was listed as a standard feature, the Yugo had a rear-window defroster — reportedly to keep your hands warm while you pushed it. The engines went ka-blooey, the electrical system — such as it was — would sizzle, and things would just fall off. Yugo. Or not.
Unfortunately, most of them wound up like this........
I must admit, they are very eco-friendly, nature friendly, and green, look they make a wonderful planter.
The debt debate may be grabbing all the headlines, but another debate has been taking place in Washington over the last few years. Under the Obama administration, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been hammering out an agreement with automakers and the state of California for a new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard. Today the EPA announced that a CAFE of 54.5 mpg will be required by 2025, nearly doubling current fuel economy standards.
Folks, I got to tell you that the Old Sarge will not be riding around in a sardine can, I want some steel around me when I move from place to place 60-70 MPH. The problem is to meet these standards there will be not allowance for steel in the new automobiles.
The following video was the genesis of this post, I watched it and it CRACKED me up. Lets face it, he will meet the new EPA CAFE Standard. This one runs on fried chicken, pork ribs and sausage gravy...

He should have used a few of those dollars that he didn't spend on gas for a good belt. Just saying.
I think my Lincoln will last me many many years. The new law if for new cars being built then, not for cars already on the road. I hope.
Big hugs xoxo
I'm not driving one of those stupid cars either. Never. Washington needs to chill. They are pissing me off but good of late.
Have a terrific day Sarge. :)
No sardine cans for either of us, that is for sure. Period.
That guy needs some 'spenders. Just say NO to crack!
Big hugs, honey...
I am trying really hard to get that picture out of my head. Sure was funny though!!
I will keep my truck thanks, although if Tucker did such a good job years ago, the technology is there. I hope everything went well for you today Sarge.
Hugs,
Bobbi
From my understanding, it seems like the CAFE standards apply to the entire fleet and not individual cars. Car companies can still sell SUV's and trucks if they offset them with EV's and hybrids.
