OLD HISTORY:  New Orleans after Katrina

After Katrina, the media blamed the lack of response on the Bush administration's dislike of black people.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, looting, violence and other criminal activity became serious problems. With most of the attention of the authorities focused on rescue efforts, public security in New Orleans degraded quickly. By August 30, looting had spread throughout the city, often in broad daylight and in the presence of police officers.

"The looting is out of control. The French Quarter has been attacked," City Councilwoman Jackie Clarkson said. "We're using exhausted, scarce police to control looting when they should be used for search and rescue while we still have people on rooftops."

RECENT HISTORY, Nashville, TN, during flood

Not sure why, but looting was not a problem in Nashville…..

Anyone believe this man will be in a FEMA trailer 5 years from now?

Folks, make me understand, I keep telling you I am just a simple man, was there any vouchers, or government debit cards ect. given to these people?  Was there lack of outrage because of poor response by the Federal Government, is it true that Obama blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines ?

There must be one hell of a big difference between the value of the people of Iowa  and value of the people of Louisiana  .

What a crazy world we live in Sarge. There is a big difference in the value of the people of Iowa and the people of Louisiana. We both know that difference too.

Have a terrific day Sarge. :)

Exactly. The difference is people who care about their communities and won't tolerate b.s., and then go about fixing their own things themselves as best they can.

Values - that's the key word here.

Big hugs, honey...

Self dependence versus government dependence. Self dependence and reliance wins by a longshot!

I hope this link works. It shows what we went through here in Nashville. We pulled through, because we pulled together, neighbor helping neighbor. Our mayor, police, and fire chiefs stood shoulder to shoulder and took charge of the rescues. We didn't wait for the government to show up and bail us out.
