Why I love blogging, comments from that experienced what I posted about and confirmed my conclusions, real Americans know how to take care of themselves........

I hope this link works. It shows what we went through here in Nashville. We pulled through, because we pulled together, neighbor helping neighbor. Our mayor, police, and fire chiefs stood shoulder to shoulder and took charge of the rescues. We didn't wait for the government to show up and bail us out.

The folks in Nashville are smarter than the ones over there in NO!
Big hugs, honey...
Folks in Nashville aren't waiting for everyone else to take care of them. White, black, brown and every other color were working to help each other through an awful tragedy. That's what we are supposed to do.
I've always said that there are lots of good people out there Sarge. There are also lots of trash out there and both come in all colors.
Thanks for this excellent post. It made me smile. God Bless the folks of Nashville.
Have a terrific day. :)
I can further attest that the Nashville folks were neighbor to neighbor. We were lucky in that we lived on nine mile hill, one of the higher areas in Nashville. But a just down the road was devastated.
It's all about people helping one another... people taking action to help others, and people helping themselves.
and by people helping themselves... and I don't mean to buy televisions, tennis shoes and other "social plumage". These folks were struggling to save their lives.
i am not surprised in the least!

Nashville folks did it the right way!
After the big tornado in 1998 the mayor asked for volunteers with chainsaws to gather at the downtown arena if they could help. Dozens of city busses picked up hundreds of men and drove them to devastated neighborhoods. I am proud to say my husband spent the day cutting fallen trees off strangers' homes. Box lunches and bottled water were provided to the volunteers by local churches.
There was no looting here either. It makes me sad to see folks behaving badly after natural disasters in other parts of the country. They could accomplish so much if they would just lend a hand to those in need. You never know when you may be the one who needs help. Lisa.
