Do I know what it means to live Pay Check to Pay Check?

In the first photo my monthly pay was $78.00 per month, photo 2 $150.00 per month the final photo in Vietnam I earned about $600.00 per month.  By that time Miss Bee and I was supporting ourselves and 4 children.

The following is reported in REDSTATE

In the past, American soldiers were classified as essential personnel. Therefore, should the government shut down our soldiers would keep getting paid.

But Barack Obama has decided to hold our American soldiers hostage to a government shutdown. The Commander-in-Chief has, via the Secretary of the Department of Defense, proposed classifying our men and women in harm’s way as “non-essential.” That means, should the government shut down, they will not be paid.

Yep, that is our Commander in Chief, the one person responsible for the health and welfare of our soldiers, and you damn right, he is flipping them off.  The Speaker of the house had a continuing resolution to extend funding the government for one week and to fund the Defense Department for the rest of the year.

Obama reuters halo

Obama says (cr) is a distraction and will be vetoed... So our soldiers won't be paid!!!

Everything about this looming shutdown seems to be mishandled. I fear for my own family having to survive without one or two or more paychecks. But we will be ok. I worry and pray for the families of soldiers who are surviving on one income to begin with because one is deployed, the other is home or only working part time to support their family without their partner.

This isn't good at all. I can't stop checking the news to see if its over yet.

It is unbelievable that this government even exists. What an embarrassment to our country.

Solve the budget crisis. Pay the troops. Stop acting like babies.

And they haven't even begun to work on the CURRENT budget. What idiots!!!

Big hugs, my friend...

I still think it was a set-up to make the GOP look bad. They were in a corner and would be blamed for withholding pay from the military. You know how the GOP wants to kill old women and babies.
I am so sick of all of this crap. I never thought Little Harry Reid would ever get re-elected and worry that Obama will get a second term. Hopefully, Ryan's spending cuts will have a chance.

Isn't it just a game that both political parties are doing? I watched the news last night and suddenly they agreed with only i hour left. That tells me that they could have done this earlier. Games against peoples money and lives. Both parties ought to be a shamed of themselves.

To this day I am totally amazed that my mother was able to make my Dad's meager paycheck from the Air Force feed, clothe, entertain, etc the six of us because Dad certainly didn't bring home the big bucks. When I joined the Air Force in 1976 I remember making $375 a month ... cripes, that's not even a good one week paycheck anymore!

And I have to agree with the comment above me, "Both parties ought to be ashamed of themselves."

Greatest country in the world my ass ... not lately!

This past week must go down in history as totally shameful.
We are America. We should not behave is such a disgraceful manner. The lack of respect on so many levels was a nightmare. Laying off over 800,000 people and potentially all the small businesses which support this workforce... my blood was boiling.
I won't even mention how I felt this matter would affect our Troops...I know you know!
I prayed hard and am most thankful for the resolution (for now).

Yea, that is the way I understood it! I made around 800 a month in the 80's but TC made around 1200 a month so we were rich back then!

You can also polay that 'Old Sarge" I'm a Vietnam veteran crap all day the truth is you are a REMF and I seriously doubt if you ever bothered to clean that rifle because you'd have to clean.it. I also believe you never knowingly saw a real live VC.

Mr Anderson, you sir have no idea what I did, where I was, or what I saw, you could not see Vietnam from Canada......

Roger Anderson said...

Charlie I know a REMF when I see one and you were a REMF. I'm sure you know what a REMF is and also know that 11b's don't like REMF's who pretend they were warriors.
You can't tell me what you did because the biggest excitement you had was watching the tracers in the distance.
so tell me charlie what was your MOS again? By the way I was in country almost 20 months.
