Photo stolen from Jon who did a good post on this subject.
He reminded me of a personal experience from my youth, I was watching a tv broadcast of JFK saying “we are going to the Moon in this decade, not because it is easy but because it is hard,” and we did it, he made America proud……..

He sure did make America proud.
Have a terrific day Sarge. Big hug to you and Miss Bee. :)
I remember being allowed to stay up very, very late to watch the first lunar landing and the walk on the moon. As a child, I was enthralled but I just couldn't wrap my mind around that concept. As an adult, I still can't.
Big hugs :]
And now, our current administration wants to put an end to the space program. Sigh.....
Sarge -
Thanks for the plug and the link - I learned a long time ago that plagerism is respected. Besides, I got the photo from the Washington Post (I think).
I do believe it is a shame that these beasts of burden are being retired, but it is time for this country to change the direction of its space program with a new goal - one that takes us beyond Earth's orbit back to the Moon and beyond.
I look forward to the day when the United States once again places a man on the moon - this time for an extended stay.

As a Canadian, I always felt great when ever one of those tremendous birds flew into space and landed back onto earth. I always wanted to flew into space in one of those beautiful ships. What will they do now?

A sad day
Really sad. What next???
Big hugs, honey...
Now we have the inspiration of BHO, taping his big ears back & conducting seminars on childhood bullying--and whining how as a boy, he was one of the bullied! Just what we need in our Chief Executive, a public admission to a lack of cojones.
It's very sad to see the shuttle program end. Even sadder that we might not have one of the retired shuttles here in Florida.
