Suppose you are the lady who called 911 while giving birth to a baby in the lobby of her apartment, and suppose it takes EMC 9 hours to respond because of snow clogged streets, in the meantime your baby dies. Then suppose you learn that union bosses upset by budget cuts have instructed sanitation workers to slow down as a protest.
Now is the time for New York and all other cities to decertify public service unions because they are, in this case guilty of murder and in other cases bankrupting our country, now is the time to say “I am not going to take it any more” “I will not let these thugs ruin my country.” NOW IS THE TIME…………

I have never been a fan of unions. Every employee should be treated fairly, not just union members. Why do unions think they're so special?
More to the point, why do so many people feel that someone else should speak up for them rather than having the chutzpah to stand up for themselves?

BS. I spent many years at the fire station and retired as a union member. No strikes for us. No separation of jobs for us: command the scene...I did it, the toilet's dirty...I cleaned it. The I can not count the number of times the state of California would agree to something in a contract and then then do exactly the opposite in the real world. Without the union to back us the state would have screwed us into oblivion. All unions are NOT created, or run, equally. To make a blanket statement is short-sighted. As for money/wages, my brother, 25years ago, made as much money in the computer field as I did in my final year of employment as a Fire Captain with 30 years in, and I had to work over 1000 hours of overtime to do that. Every day I went to work I put my ass on the line. No, not the same as the soldiers, but I could darn sure end up just as dead. I didn't take many sick days...ended up with 1900 hours of accumulated, unused sick leave. I worked with everything from severe colds to broken bones. When the alarm went off I responded and it didn't matter what the hell the weather was, nor did it matter what time of the day or night. Now I get a check every month from Cal-PERS, the biggest most financially stable retirement system on the planet and I don't feel one bit bad when it goes in the bank.
If that NYC story is true, then those buttheads need to be prosecuted. I was in a union, but I sure as hell wasn't a thug and sorry, but it really pisses me off to be put in the same boat with some dumbass who won't do his/her job.
They should be held accountable for their actions. Period. How sad.
