I think for this veteran’s day I will stop by and visit with my friends.
We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.
This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.
I love this photo, I was taken from a lady in distress yesterday, her boy is headed back to the sandbox…….she could us a hug

The photo is from the Memorial to Canadian Soldiers who fought in Ortona, Italy during WWII. My cousin, a high school history teacher in Ontario, took his students there a couple of years ago.
And just for the record, when I say "my boy", I refer to my boyfriend, not my son ~ sorry for the confusion.

We went to the Fresno Convention Center during the beginning of the first Gulf War. Lee Greenwood was opening for "Sawyer Brown." I'll never forget the moment that he started singing this song and the audience rose to it's feet in one wave and sang along. The four of us were all choked up and teary. It was one heck of a moment....

We heard Lee sing this song in Hiawassee a number of years ago. The whole audience was on its feet before he got too many bars into the song. I am proud to be American, and know only too well that freedom is NEVER free.

I'm a little conflicted about saying "Happy Veterans Day" as it's not exactly for happy reasons that we have a Veterans Day. That said, I thank you for your service to our country as you continue to fight a battle that originated in Vietnam all those years ago. You were a good soldier and you deserve the chance to enjoy your life without having to continue fighting cancer. May God grant you good health in your golden years - soon!!
