Barack Obama/Air force One

Military Pegs Hourly Air Force One Cost at $181G, as Obama Sets Travel Record

The average American could buy a house for the amount of money it takes to run Air Force One every hour.

The U.S. military has provided an updated estimate on that cost, first published by a taxpayer watchdog group and confirmed by FoxNews.com, and the number is staggering -- $181,757 per hour. That's the price tag for shuttling around President Obama, who, as it turns out, has spent more days abroad in his first two years than any other president.

What the Old Sarge thinks:  I got to tell you that I think Airforce One is a necessary means of safe transportation for the president, however, as we are on our way to 14 trillion dollar debt I am personally offended by excessive waste of taxpayer dollars.

National Debt as of this morning

$13,778,775,000,000 (increased by 5 million as I collected the data)

Your share

$44,326.00

Air Force One

The White house released the photo of Air Force One taken over New York. Yep, THAT photo, the one that cost $328,835, and caused wide spread panic. So I'm sure everyone's asking the question, "what kind of picture does $328,835 buy you." Well apparently not much.

Now you might be wondering if the White House could have just photoshopped a picture of Air Force One by the Statue of Liberty. Well here's a picture of the Statue of Liberty that was photoshopped to look like Air Force One was there. In my opinion it looks a whole lot better, and it cost $328,835 less.

A Boeing 747 that can be used as Air Force One and an F-16 fighter jet fly unusually low en route to Manhattan. The photo-op, for some New Yorkers, evoked memories of the 9/11 attacks. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he was "furious" that he was not notified of the event that was authorized by the White House's military office director, who later resigned because of the controversy. Charlie I don't really try to get involved with American politics but this article about " Air Force One " bothers me. This plane takes the President of the United States wherever he needs to go and that means all the presidents in the past. WHY are they making a big thing about the cost of this plane because it's President Obama? That bothers me. There were no complaints when President Bush was taking him to wherever he went, his father President Bush, and President Clinton and even President Reagan. Why make a big thing now that Obama is now president. I read the article from Fox News. It really seems to me that Fox News is not an fair reporter of news but I guess we've known that for a long time. Even in Canada I watch and read the news even Fox News. Remember, This is for your American president no matter who you like it's still the President of the United States. That's how I see it from here in Canada.

I saw this yesterday. Reminds me of all the complaining the left did about Bush and the war in Iraq spending. Same thing.

I don't think any news agency gets it right. The left is loonier than all get out. Fox can go way too right at times too. Both the same ilk, just different points of view. I prefer Fox News. Just saying.

Have a terrific day Sarge. :)

it's not that they shouldn't all have this plane, they should, it's the amount of krap time this president spends in it, like taking his wife to dinner in new york. what no restaurants in dc these days? it should be used for necessary trips in this time of such high debt. it sets a very bad example.

So how much did the photographer who took that picture get paid and how do I get his job?!?

No kidding, Linda!
I think we all notice the expenses of this White House because they are doing so much to financially undermine our economy; so naturally, he'll be looked at with a fine-toothed comb. Nobody gives a rat's patootie in normal times, but - hey - these aren't normal times!!!

All of the prez's extravagant travels is what bothers me. Of course he has to be protected, but he also should learn how to be frugal, in all matters. Just sayin. Sigh.

Big hugs, honey...

Personally, I wish all the US Presidents would stay closer to the homefront from herein. By all means, do visit those areas hit by disaster. But all the campaigning for various people? No, I don't like that one bit.
