Yep, the old sarge has been traveling down a hard road since last July. I fought the good fight and it appears that I won one, the Lymphoma that was growing like crazy in my abdomen has disappeared, yea, that is a good thing.
My hero, Dr Robert Green, has taken me down this road and his ultimate goal was to be able to use the “c” word, cured. We are not at that point today but the results have been very encouraging.
A miracle happened, with a stroke of luck, Dr Green saw a small spot on the upper lobe of my right lung during the follow-up of my Lymphoma treatment. Should I be jumping up and down with joy, no, but the fact is the discovery in such an early stage makes the “c” word more likely. We must be positive.
So, what to do now? We met with a team of Doctors, Dr Green, we saw a Surgeon and a Pulmonary Doctor, and then a Radiologist who did a Needle Biopsy on the Old Sarge. No, it was no fun but that is old history now.
THE RESULTS:
Stage (T1NOMO) of Bronchoalveolar Cancer. Holy crap, is that what I have?
Dr Green called us this morning and explained all the options, holy crap what is the butt photo for?
Option #1: Have the surgeon whack it out, it will be gone forever. Can it return after surgery, no, I can get a new cancer but this one will be gone.
Option #2: It is a slow growing cancer, do nothing for a few months to allow my body to recover from all the treatment I have had.
Option #3: Radiation or Gamma Knife Radiation of the lung. Cancer will go away but is likely to return at a later date, surgery will not be an option at that time.
Option #4: Lung Chemo, (not an option)
Where are we today?
I say we are between option 1 and option 2, Dr Green will meet with his team and discuss my case and then explain their consensus.
Yes, Dr Wacks has joined the team, he is one great doctor.

I know you'll make the right decision Sarge. This seems very minor compared to what you just went through. You and Miss Bee remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Big hug to you both as you make these decisions. :)
Being a new blogfriend, I am just now learning of all this. Praying for you, friend - *hugs* to you and Bee.
Ciao Sarge and Bee!
I continue with my thoughts and I wish the doctors will take the best decision!
Big hugs!!!!
Sarge...please know I remain your faithful prayer warrior. I pray for your continued faith, for Miss Bee's strength, and for your doctors healing touch. hugs, my friend!

I keep you and Miss Bee in my prayers, too. I even have a blog badge that I stole from your blog promoting prayers for you.
That is a very cute picture of the two of you. I know you have a lot to face, but if you survived war, then I know you can beat this thing too. These doctors look like kids to me!
Stage 1 is the very best stage to find it. I like your options, and I like your doctors and I love you and your wife! You both remian in my prayers.
Big hugs xo
Dear Sarge,
Thanks for the butt shot of Dr. Green. It made my day.
I'm sure you'll do the right thing. I'm also sure that you will be in good shape for our annual trip to John G's in July. This time ... I'M PICKING UP THE TAB!
Love you sir!

is the "whacking out" part, just the growth, or a lobe? I vote for half and half, get a little healthier and then get surgery. I have every confidence the you will continue to persevere!!!
PS Dr G.'s butt is ok but those sexy eyes!!! that's what gets me!!
(you are pretty cute too, especially when you pole dance)
Charlie this is just another battle that you will succeed and I will guarantee that I'll be with you all the time because you and I have to dance again on one of Carnival's ships. Hang in there my friend.
Paul
Options 1 & 2 seem to be the most reasonable. Seems like you just got through the round of treatment and exhaustion --so maybe 2? Can they operate in a few months?
Sorry, Sarge. I can't wait to see you up and dancing again on the ships.
Sarge -
As always, you (and Bee) are in my thoughts and prayers - giv'em hell big guy.

Well sh*t! This is not the news I was hoping for but then again, I guess that all things considered it could be a lot worse.
I can see some advantages to waiting until you get a bit stronger before having surgery and if your wonderful team of medical experts think that's a viable option then I'd say go for it. Dr. Green has been wonderful so far and I'm sure he's not going to steer you wrong this time either.
You're one tough soldier and I've got no doubt that you'll win this battle just like you won the battle against the lymphoma but perhaps you need some R&R before rallying the troops for another charge.
In the meantime, you'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as will Miss Bee.
You've got my support, whichever way you choose to go with your treatment. Prayers for you Sarge. You are one tough Dude.
So, it's yet another skirmish! Well, you've got wonderful generals and the weapons are newer and state-of-the-art, so I'm betting this will be another battle under your belt!!!
If you feel the enemy getting too close, just look into the big blue eyes of that precious lady you married...she'll keep on giving you strength to persevere. You can do it.
Love you, and
~~~Blessings~~~
Praying for you!! Keep fighting!!
Nanni
Yea, you will kick this one's butt as well. It's beena tough road but hey, Spring has sprung and summer is getting ready to sizzle. Sounds like a Dillard Run
Medical Team Sarge will make the right decision for whichever procedure gets done, while the Worker Team Sarge continues with our good thoughts and prayers for all concerned.
Sending lotsa love 'n big hugs, my friend. You'll beat this...
It sounds like smart, caring people are taking good care of you. So that's good. I'm pulling for you.
I'm praying for you and Bee. Your medical team sounds like the best there is.
Sending positive thoughts down the Eastern Seaboard to you two.
I've seen that butt before! haha Quite a shot.
Hugs, thoughts, and oodles of prayers... Oh heck, and oodles of hugs and thoughs, too.
Stage 1 is encouraging. At least it's not stage 3 or 4. This should be a piece of cake after all you've been through before.. Stage one is beatable!
see? I believe it so much I said it twice...
Oh no, Sarge! The good news is that it's stage one with no metastasis. That is very good! If you are strong enough to go through the surgery, option one is the best. Seems like you have a great team of docs who will give you the best advice.
Hugs and strength to you from Ohio,
I.
Hang in there, Sarge!
:[ I'll get my small group to pray for you on Monday that the doctors will choose the best option, and that your body will have a quick healing.
Oh my dear sweet Sarge. Came here from Bee's blog. Huge hugs, many hugs, daily hugs to you.
Crying.
I so hope surgery is successful and YOU ARE CURED ONCE AND ALWAYS.
Loving thoughts to your healing, your body, you and your Beloved Bee.
Prayers coming from me, too, as well as hugs. I'm sure your medical team will give you good advice, I agree with your "between 1 and 2" idea. Love & hugs...
You'll be on my mind tomorrow as I fly off to Oregon for my mom's 80th...Be well soon!
