Have you wondered why almost all of Europe air travel was grounded for a many days as a result of the cloud of ash. My favorite military wife sent me some photos of what the ash can do to an aircraft. The following photos are of a Cessna Citation Jet (CJ2) that did fly through the volcanic ash cloud over Germany a few weeks ago.

I don’t know about you folks but I assure you the old sarge is happy he was not flying on this airplane. Luckily the other engine kept running, although sluggishly.

My mechanic hubby could probably explain something about engines needing clean air to run smoothly and all kinds of other stuff. But I can tell that if they grounded the big planes and lost all that money they did it for a reason. That is scary to see.

This pilot cringes whenever I see aircraft damage of any kind! Yikes!!! Definitely dangerous flying conditions with that volcano.

Big hugs, Sarge...

Wow on the first two photographs Sarge. Breathtakingly beautiful.

As for the airplane? Yikes is right. I had no idea what really happens to airplanes that fly through ash. Now I know.

Have a terrific day Sarge. You and Miss Bee are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure all will go well tomorrow. :)
