Tis the season for giving gifts...........

Gift giving is a long standing tradition during the Christmas Season. In my 72 years I have received and given a lot of gifts, but today is special. I did not get a gift, I got a treasure.

My hero grandson sent me a flag with a certificate that says it was flown in a an aircraft mission over Iraq in December, 2009. I think my grandson knows how much this means to the Old Sarge, although most people will not understand, Miss Bee ordered a display case for me and I will proudly display this flag for the rest of my days. It is a true treasure.

Photo redacted for security reasons.

Yes, I am fighting back the tears, as I accept this gift from my hero.....

Take a moment to say thank you.....

These guys are doing this for you......

Man made overseas contingency operation in Detroit???????????

Detroit terror bomber Umar Mutallab

One article in The New York Post bore the headline “Homeland Chief An Airhead — Says Security System Worked.”

What we have here is a lady with a job, her sole responsibility is the protection of American Citizens. Wake up lady, answer the wakeup call, you think that the fact that a Dutchman tackled the would be bomber and saved 300 lives that everything is just “hunkey dorey.” Help me please, fire this air head.

Morning Bell: Does Obama Realize We Are at War Yet?

Refusing to interrupt his Hawaiian golf vacation for almost three full days after the Flight 253 attack, President Barack Obama finally emerged on December 28th to assure the American people that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was “an isolated extremist” and that he had already “been charged with attempting to destroy an aircraft.” Continuing to treat the incident like a common law enforcement problem Obama referred to Abdulmutallab as the “suspect” five times and promised he would “not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable.”

Dick Chaney said, "As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war."

2009, What a year…….

Well, it is a new year, maybe we should take another cruise. Oh yes, flat Jeter learns the joys of cruising…….

February was a wonderful month, my son stopped trying to kill himself with his use of drugs

For a romantic like the old Sarge, February is all about valentines day………..

with a special message in a bottle for Miss Bee………

March had a mother sending her son off to war, God Speed Chad…

And then we get the worst April Fool’s joke in the history of man….

May is all about Memorial Day and appreciation of our soldiers

June is a God Sent surprise for Miss Bee and the Sarge, we sold our home in Podunk, looking back on the year this was truly a miracle.

July I start to have some health problems, it turns out that I have Cancer and the war is on. Doctor Green will become my hero.

August, It will not take long to learn the effects of Chemo

(chemo sucks)

In September the food lady is in training for San Francisco

October finds the Food Lady in San Francisco where she will walk 60 miles for the cure…

In November we added another Flat Cat, Skeezix to my caregiver staff…..

December brings us great news, Cancer Free, wow, it was a hell of a year…

Twas the day after Christmas….

How good can Christmas be? I got the Cancer Free report on Christmas Eve, I know it was the answer to a lot of prayers. The green haired boys got some nice stuff also, flat fish, flat cat nip, and looked at some flat girls……..

Someone let the “cat out of the bag” so to speak, they were told that blonds have more fun and the old sarge is just having a ball since he went blond….

They saw this photo of the waitress at Red Lobster spiking my hair..

and they said, “nuff of this crap sarge, we want in on the action”

When all through the house, the flat cats are now happy and now ready to prowl….

Thank a soldier for your freedom

a poem from the old sarge

Twas the day before Christmas and without any doubt……

The great Doctor Green cried out with a shout……

No more Chemo for Sarge Charlie, that’s what it is all about……….

Your PET Scan was clean there is no more Cancer….

Five treatments was enough, that was the answer……

Twas a long hard road, but it is almost over

After four weeks of radiation I will be ready to rover………….

Merry Christmas my friend...

From my friend at "Gazing at the Flag"

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT

Yep, Santa came to visit the Old Sarge.....

You guys remember Miss Bee was having some fun with the Old Sarge, giving me and the boys Chia Hair for Christmas.........

I got to tell you I am accustomed to this kind of abuse, bald guys are always easy targets. This (I can’t believe she is 50) lovely lady is Miss Bee’s hairdresser, JJ, she is always happy to join the fun……..

This is a sample of her work……

Well today, she made me a Chia Blond, is it true, do blonds have more fun????

Knowing I am a history buff, she also gave me this book, some of it will be from when the Old Gray Lady really was the paper of record for the USA, sorry those days are gone.

As my friends know, I am open about my past use of drugs and alcohol, JJ is also open about her history. I was reading her blog and saw this photo, the post brought a tear to the Old Sarge’s eye, “Once upon a time” is well worth your time to read because is gives you some insight into the wreckage drugs and alcohol can cause in one’s life. This was especially meaningful to me because I just spent a week rebounding with my son after years of his drug abuse. We are both believers that pain shared is pain lessened.........

Thanks for sharing this story JJ, we make bad choices sometimes, and then have to live with them……….

Carnival Valor, Christmas Cruise

We did it!!!!!!!!!! Yep, Miss Bee and the Old Sarge had a wonderful time, even though I had some health problems that slowed me down some, I see a happy face or two……..

The Boys had lots of fun also and they bounded with Uncle Chucky……

As a matter of fact, the Old Sarge enjoyed Chuck’s company, he was very helpful with my weakness, this was the first opportunity to spend a lot of time together for years, I loved it…….. Check it out, he has good taste in ties…..

The boys both loved Sarge’s ice cream cone, they kept wanting licks……..

I must admit their very favorite was the Chia raw tuna dish in the supper club….

They did have to hang out a lot while the Old Sarge took naps…….

Did we have excitement, you bet, a honeymoon couple, a newly engaged granddaughter and…….

the lovely Lala who’s hero husband is in harm’s way, we missed him a lot……

I have got to tell you the Boys heart cruising, they cannot wait to go again……
