New cars are boring……….
FORD AND KIA
CHEVORLET AND CADALLIC
Why are American Automobiles in trouble? Look at the cars, I bet some of the body parts could move from one car to the other, they look like cookie cutter to me. They have no character.
You want character, look at this 1956 Ford Skyliner (glass top). The owner of this fine classic found it on an Indian Reservation on Vancouver Island in 1988. He restored it to the Original, that is one sharp car.
Or maybe you like this 1955 Mercury Sun Valley, purchased from an estate in 1983 with 26000 original miles. It was fully restored to the original.
1958 Pontiac Parisienne Convertible. This is a beauty, who would like to Cruise Broad Street in this fine automobile.
This 1959 Impala Chevrolet tugs at the Old Sarge’s heart.
Where did Detroit go wrong? In my youth there was a huge build up to the release on the new auto models. The industry would release teasers for a couple of months creating excitement and anticipation. When new car’s were delivered to the dealers they were covered so you could not see them until, finally it was the day……. People rushed to the dealerships to see the new cars.
Detroit went wrong when they were forced to meet standards of aerodynamics, fuel economy, and interchangeable parts from one car to another. Cookie cutter. Detroit went cheap, not wanting the cost of retooling. I bought and 2000 Town Car and later a 2004 town car, the 04 had a hood ornament. Make me a 1955 Thunderbird and I will buy it……..
These classics are part of a Canadian Collector’s automobiles, he lives on Vancouver Island.
God or Jesus, a follow up

MY CONCLUSION: The Old Sarge has no way to differentiate between the God of Moses and the God of Jesus, because they are the same God.
Having worked with Vietnamese people for the last 11 years of my life, I know how intense they celebrate Buda. They had a Buda in one of the departments of our plant, they would bring fruit and burn incense as an offering along with their prayers. Is Buda just another name for the God of Moses?
Holy Moley, heck a brick, why did I ever think I could do a post about religion?A bit of Sothern Humor(A true story) On my oldest daughter’s graduation day from the University of San Diego, a Catholic University. My mother and I flew out to celebrate the day with her. You would have to know my mother to know she always had her mouth running and sometimes without mental control. We were walking around the Campus of USD and along with a thousand other parents prior to the ceremony. A brief thought passed through my mother and her mouth said in her booming southern drawl “You know they are just like us, even if they are Catholics.” My daughter and I turned and walked the other direction……..

God or Jesus, who's right?
I know so little about the Jewish Faith but do know this was and act of kindness and friendship.
What can a Southern Baptist say if people who pray to God for my recovery. I suppose I just say thanks and hope God grants your wish.

A story from the past
The subject of this post came up today and after a search I found and copied it. The is one of the most well written post I have ever read, written by one of those looser guys (according to John Kerry). The old Sarge is not so sure of that, you be the judge.

Walking on History
I am a shameless romantic, a slightly better than average student of history, and there is a current of idealism under my skin that has not yet been dulled by reality.
Sometimes, these qualities come together and leave me thinking to myself of times long gone and stories all but forgotten. Lately, I've been thinking of the paradoxical enormity and insignificance of my presence here.
Here I stand, in modern-day Iraq. I have come further to fight here than any soldier of any nation before me, and I fight with weapons and equipment that lay pale the panoply of earlier armies. I represent the pinnacle of force projection and decisive battle, and yet I fight here, where unnumbered young warriors have fought and died through time stretching out of memory. It was on this land that the Babylonian empire first arose out of those first Sumerian agrarians, only to be conquered by the Assyrians, and still later throw off the foreign chains. It was here that Alexander's phalanxes swept by, trailing Hellenism in their wake. Rome, and later the Byzantines, drew their border with Persia at the Euphrates River. At that river was where the Sassanids made their stand against the spread of Arabian Islam. The Khans of the Mongols laid this land waste, sometimes killing only to build their towers of bones higher.
This region is steeped in history. We walk on it; we breath it in. Eons of history surround us, infiltrate us, and turn to dust beneath our feet. The ashes of countless cultures, civilizations, and rulers dreams lie under the earth. With each breath, I inhale a few molecules of the dying gasp of Cyrus II, the Persian "Constantine of the East". In the howling wind I can almost hear the cries of a countless multitude dying on killing grounds that bridge across the ages. The same wind carries the red dust that might yet hold a few drops of blood from the battle at Carrhae- the first, crushing defeat for Rome's red blooded legions. Under my heel, a speck grinds into dust: the last grain of sand that remains of the Hanging Gardens at Babylon that are now known only in legend. Some of the world's oldest religions tell us that somewhere in this ancient Cradle of life, God himself breathed on this dust, and it became man, the father of us all. Whatever path we take here, we walk on history.
I walk softly, for I tread on the ghosts of years.
Cancer and chemo takes it’s toll
Where did he go, he is such a prankster
An not afraid to wear an American Flag tie in Europe
And here he is, with flat Jeter watching closely, manages a smile but the camera don’t lie, Cancer and Chemo ravage the human body.
Today it is foggy in south Florida, or maybe I am in a fog but I feel good. I am into my better days on the way to the good days. Definitely out of the pits today.

If you are not mad as hell, you should be
OBAMA VS FOX NEWS
I am not sure what is happing to America, but it sure takes me back to the “Nixon Enemies List.” Why should any president make an all out effort to destroy a News Network, maybe because they are “Fair and Balanced” or maybe because they are willing to expose fraud when they see it.
To have the Gaul to go on CNN and other networks and tell them not to repeat the truth that Fox News has exposed is over the top folks, it is time for America to speak up. This whole administration is as corrupt as the Chicago Politics from which it came.
The next step will be and attempt to prop up the printed press like The New York Times who print anything with out regard for the truth. The reason they are facing finical ruin is that Americans no longer want to read the crap they print.
It is time for Americans to take action, our best hope is by putting pressure on the Congress of the United States, you can find your congress person at this link:

CALL THEM
BE MAD AS HELL, DO NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE
South Florida Ravaged by Nor'easter
You can see the Palm Trees being stressed with the wind out of the north east. We have had about 4 inches of sunshine today but it is a chilly 78 degrees in hazardous conditions…….
You can see the huge ripples in the lake to our north, the water may be splashing up on the waterfront houses…..
The water hazard on the golf course has huge ripples, almost white caps…..
More examples of ripples and stress on the Palm Trees….
Speaking of the flag, last week it was tattered from all the harsh weather we have here, I called the club and told them I was embarrassed by the flag they were flying, now we have a new one……..
Hopefully we will get up to the 80’s tomorrow…..

Fairwell to an American Hero........

Obama Fiddles and soldiers die

Obama admin to GIs, Afghans: Just hang in a little longer, die more, while we figure out whether it’s worth it or not. It’s Kerrythink in action, as Obama, in extended dither, tries to engineer a mistake some poor bastard can be the last man to die for.*
OK, that’s not exactly how NYT put it:
WASHINGTON — The White House signaled Sunday that President Obama would postpone any decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan until the disputed election there had been settled and resulted in a government that could work with the United States.
**********************************************
Well, sometimes not making a decision is a decision. Not making a choice when you really have no choice is pretty much a forfeit, though. Imagine where we’d be in Iraq today if George Bush had dithered like this, maybe we will, maybe we won’t, while the Iraqi government went through its extended birth pains. Pretty much not in Iraq, I’d guess, but not in a good way, fighting a wretched rearguard action on the way out as Iran and al-Qaeda fought over the bloody leavings of the great Iraqi genocide of 2008. With every last one of our allies looking on, doing the mental calculus on which way to go now that the United States has shown itself to be utterly gutless and unreliable.
Early morning in South Florida
Yep, for some unknown reason the Old Sarge is up early this morning. I do feel good which is a blessing these days. I have had a shower and changed clothes, ready to relax for the day.
It is a little chilly here this morning, somewhere in the 50’s. I like it but the Empress thanks it is not too good. I was reading Lois’s Blog this morning about fall in Tennessee, I love fall and would love to be in our mountains now but it shall not be this year. Do not count me out for next year. The only color change we get here in West Palm Beach is on the Auto Tags as the snow birds start coming back. A large number of owners in our building are from Canada, they are coming in daily.
Have a great day, I plan too……

Down home country music
I received this video in my e-mail yesterday and playing it with a slide show that came with it took me back to my youth. "ALABAMA" was some good old boys from Ft Payne Alabama who made it big singing country music.
This song, “High Cotton” is the old Sarge growing up on a cotton farm in North Georgia.
