In an interview conducted shortly before he was sworn in today as prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu laid down a challenge for Barack Obama. The American president, he said, must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—and quickly—or an imperiled Israel may be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities itself.

Our Secretary of State/Our Lady of Guadalupe

Maybe our Secretary of State should learn about the beliefs of country's that she visits. The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. Mrs. Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people.”

After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday blamed the global economic crisis on “white people with blue eyes” and said it was wrong that black and indigenous people should pay for white people’s mistakes.

Speaking in Brasília at a joint press conference with Gordon Brown, the UK prime minister, Mr Lula da Silva told reporters: “This crisis was caused by the irrational behavior of white people with blue eyes, who before the crisis appeared to know everything and now demonstrate that they know nothing.”

He added: “I do not know any black or indigenous bankers so I can only say [it is wrong] that this part of mankind which is victimized more than any other should pay for the crisis.”

Mr Brown appeared to distance himself from Mr Lula da Silva’s remarks. “I’m not going to attribute blame to any individuals,” he said.

What the Old Sarge Thinks: I must admit I find this refreshing, I had concluded that the United States of America had placed our future in the hands of an incompetent and was going down the toilet, alone…….. It is now obvious, we are not alone.

A Post for my Canadian Friend......

As you folks know, the Old Sarge and Miss Bee love to go on big cruise ships. One thing that sometimes happens we encounter friends that we have met in cyber space and become real life friends. This is one of those couples, Paul and Marylou were on the Carnival Valor with us earlier this year. My friend Paul has a blog, Retirement man's Ideas and we truly enjoyed their company during the cruise…….

I received an e-mail from my friend and he was upset and expressed the feelings of many Canadians about a program aired on Fox News. To be honest, at the time I had no knowledge of his concern but since have found what had pissed him off. I understand his feeling and add my disgust to what has happened.

I am providing a link to a video which is a thoughtless despicable attack on the brave Canadian fighting men that are at our side in Afghanistan. My reason for a link as opposed to posting the video is because I did not want such crap on my blog. This segment of ‘RED EYE’ which aired at 3 AM on Fox News and is, like most of this program, disgusting. To make it worse, the segment aired as the bodies of four Canadian soldiers was being returned home, and needless to say our Canadian Neighbors and Allies in the War on Terror were offended by this thoughtless program. I will tell you folks that I am a fan of Fox News, it is the source of a large part of my current events information but I am not a fan of “Red Eye”. For the most part it is a program I would expect to find on CNN of MSNBC, but not on Fox.

I tip my hat to these fine Canadian fighting men and give them my deepest respect for the job they have done. If you folks have friends in Canada, I think it would be appropriate to offer them an apology for the insult they experienced as a result of the airing of “RED EYE” and I think it would also be be appropriate to contact Fox News and ask that they send “Red Eye” to the trash can where it belongs.

Dinner in the Country Club......

Last night Miss Bee wanted to go to the club for dinner, ok, no problem, lets go.........

But after dinner there was a BINGO game, not on my list of favorite things to do.........

Obama went w/out Teleprompter, NOT…..

The Press made a big deal out of the fact that did not have his teleprompter for his news conference last night. He rode bearback so to speak................

Not so, the Teleprompter of the United States was alive and well, ok, almost….

So much has been made of his teleprompter that he did scrap it last nigh, but alas, he just replaced it with a big screen TV in the center of the rear of the room……. The fact is that this man can read very well, as a speaker, he sucks….

Oh yes, he said he was cutting the red ink in half by the end of his first term, Mr. Obama's $3.6 trillion budget blueprint, by his own admission, redefines the role of government in our economy and society. The budget more than doubles the national debt held by the public, adding more to the debt than all previous presidents – from George Washington to George W. Bush---combined. It reduces defense spending to a level not sustained since the dangerous days before World War II, while increasing nondefense spending (relative to GDP) to the highest level in U.S. history. And it would raise taxes to historically high levels (again, relative to GDP). And all of this before addressing the impending explosion in Social Security and Medicare costs...

I have the TV on and I see the Space Shuttle light up the skies

WITH A BRIGHT YELLOW FLAME

I rush out to the balcony on our condo and anticipate the following

as the shuttle streaks toward the heavens it leaves a flaming yellow trail

Just so you know, we live 126 miles south of the space center

As it nears separation of the booster rocket, it is far out over the Atlantic Ocean

AND AWAY IT GOES...........
